My Winter Song

AG

I  don’t see  birds or geese up there in the sky,
Where cold and snowflakes are hanging up high,
Outside my window, the world stood very still,
With  robins and squirrels  hiding from the chill.

Some days the wind blows all day and night long,
The booms and the zooms patter  like a song,
The early morning  ground plastered with white frost,
All the flowers and roses are very long gone lost,

With  the moon and the stars up  there at night,
They shine and twinkle amid the freezing bite,
For me to enjoy this  lovely and  pretty sight,
I’ll sit and watch through my room’s skylight.

I welcome  the  snow of March with delight,
Even with howling blizzard fury with its might…
Because alas, my world would come the spring,
And all around us,  the little  birds will sing.
